Overview

SkyOS is a Phase 1 desktop app for watching aircraft against the sky. It can draw a 3D dome with trails, a 2D ceiling projection with stars and a moon, or a debug map of positions. The three views share one typed snapshot stream.

This is a local viewer, not a public radar product.

What it does

  • Dome mode in Three.js, with GLB aircraft models when they are present
  • Ceiling mode on a Canvas 2D renderer — map or look-up sky, comet trails, optional celestial layer
  • Map mode in MapLibre for positions
  • Live traffic from Airplanes.live in the non-commercial path
  • Optional TLE cache for ISS / visual satellites
  • An optional control page on the same machine so a phone on the local network can tune settings

I do not publish hostnames, addresses, or bind ports here.

Stack

A Tauri v2 desktop shell. React and TypeScript in the UI. Rust crates for the core, aircraft provider, and airport data. Shared packages for config, coordinates, and the two renderers.
